Mission Statement
Daring to walk in the footsteps of those who came before us to this mission hill, we, St. Albert Catholic Parish, strive to become the living presence of Christ by being a sacramental and socially active community of faith. We gather on a prayerful journey to nurture one another and together with our youth we further enrich our tradition. United as God's people, we care for the sacred universe created for the benefit of all.
About Us
St. Albert Catholic Parish
The St. Albert Catholic Parish Church sits atop Mission Hill in St. Albert on the same site that Oblate Father Albert Lacombe and Bishop Alexandre Taché chose to establish a mission in 1861.
Today our parish comprises around 2000 families and is a varied, active and welcoming community of the faithful.
History
Fr. Albert Lacombe
The mission at St. Albert was founded by Fr. Albert Lacombe, Oblate priest and missionary. Father Lacombe was born on February 28, 1827, at Saint-Sulpice, Quebec. He studied at Assumption College and was ordained at St. Hyacinth in 1849. His early service sent him to St. Paul, Minnesota; St. Boniface, Manitoba; and eventually to Edmonton, Alberta.
